About

HChrista Elzey i, my name is Christa Elzey and I am the owner of "THE SCRAPBOOK CABIN" and "THE SCRAPBOOK LODGE." I started scrapbooking when my oldest child was 1 years old in 2002. I shopped for more scrapbooking items than I used them. It was an addiction. I had everything you needed to produce a beautiful layout, but had no time to scrapbook. I started going to every class I could find at that time and decided I needed to stop shopping and start scrapbooking. That's when I found out about SDV (Scrapbookers Dream Vacations). I traveled often to different states just to be able to scrapbook ALL weekend. I also attended CKU (Creating Keepsakes University). During this time, I signed up to be a SU (Stampin' Up) demonstrator and taught customers how to use stamps to create cards or scrapbook pages. In 2005, we started looking at cabins in the mountains for a 2nd home for our family to enjoy. I mentioned to my husband that a cabin would be a dream come true, but if we chose one, it had to meet all of the qualifications of a wonderful scrapbooking retreat cabin also. I always had to leave out of state to attend a retreat weekend and I wanted to create a place that would be great for hosting my own scrapbooking weekends. Well the search began, the cabin had to be perfect for our family's needs, but meet my high expectations also. The basement, kitchen, bedrooms all had to be just right for a group of girls. There had to be plenty of space for parking of cars for large groups. We had to have the best lighting in the south over our tables. My husband owns an electrical business, so he said No problem! There had be room in the kitchen for large groups to eat and mingle. And the highest priority, we had to be able to drive right up to the scrapbooking room to unload our "STUFF" and have NO stairs to climb. We found this cabin and it was built in 2006 and I hosted my first weekend retreat in Nov of the same year. We had a blast and I decided to email everyone I knew in the scrapbooking world that I had a Cabin in the mountains that was all set up for scrapbooking. So in Jan of 2007, "THE SCRAPBOOK CABIN" was born. Since then many scrapbooking groups and women's church groups have enjoyed the set-up of the Cabin. Also, in 2007, I signed up to be a TLC (Top Line Creations) consultant where I could have inventory to sell in the cabin. At the end of 2007, THE SCRAPBOOK CABIN was booked, but many groups kept calling wanting a weekend, so we decided to look for a 2nd location. Over the Christmas holidays, I was riding around the resort and found a cabin being built that was only 1 minute from the 1st location and it was PERFECT! It was completed in Feb of 2008 and I hosted my 1st retreat at this location on the last weekend of March which opened up "THE SCRAPBOOK LODGE" as a 2nd location for your scrapbooking or church group. Check out the comments that Guests have made for both locations under Reservations, View Guestbook and email me to reserve a weekend for your group!
